Artisan- Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC)

Job description

To install, service, maintain and repair refrigeration and air conditioning plants to ensure effective air conditioning of the power plant and offices.

Framework for Operation – The jobholders works within procedures.

Tools and Equipment – The jobholder uses complex tools and equipment.

Supervision – The jobholder is supervised on the basis of end results.

Key activities

  1. Testing
    Performs a variety of standard tests that require moderate judgment.
  2. Data Collection & Analysis
    Selects appropriate data from information provided by others and inputs that data into spreadsheets or standard formats.
  3. Compliance
    Works within current compliance processes, systems and procedures and reports shortcomings
  4. Facilities
    Performs simple facilities tasks by following established procedures to support others.
  5. Improvement / Innovation
    Implements improvements and carries out simple change management tasks by following established procedures to support others.
  6. Installation, Maintenance and Repair
    Performs standard installation, maintenance and repair activities under detailed guidance, while also troubleshooting basic technical and/or operational problems by applying previously defined matching solutions.
  7. Operating Machine or Equipment
    Operates various machines, adjusting work sequence and/or other variables to improve efficiency.
  8. Quality
    Performs relatively simple testing and quality assurance tasks.
  9. Safety, Health and Environment
    Operates in accordance with policies and rules, while performing routine safety checks on own equipment and workspace.

Education required

  1. A recognized National Craft Certificate (NCC) in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning

Experience required

  1. A minimum of 1 year post qualification experience in maintenance and operations environment.
  2. Supervisory Experience
