TECHNICIAN-NETWORK PLANNING

Job description

To carry out the planning of Transmission and Distribution Network and delivery of customer connection estimates to ensure availability of adequate network capacity, efficient customer connection service delivery and cost effective network designs.

Education required

  1. Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  2.  ERB Registration
  3. Drivers Licence
  4. Senior Authorisation six (6) months and twelve (12) months external

     


Experience required

  1. At least two (2) years post qualification experience in the power environment with project design and costing experience.

Core Accountabilities and Responsibilities

 

  1. Preparation of customer connection estimates to ensure designs conform to set standards and the costing is accurate.
  2. Prepares designs and cost estimates for projects in accordance with Transmission and Distribution construction standards within delegated limits.
  3. Prepares designs and cost estimates of major reticulation systems and installations in accordance with Transmission and Distribution standards as well as provide cost estimates thereof to ensure cost recovery.
  4. Represents the Company at development meetings and prepares electrical reticulation master plan designs to conform to local authority area development plans.
  5. Prepares periodic and ad hoc reports to appraise relevant management on issues relating to area of responsibility.
  6. Verifies customer connections and recommends refunds on request from Commercial.
  7. Contributes to the update of individual rates at the commencement of the process of a Transmission and Distribution Small Works Phase.
  8. Advise customers on technical requirements for different types of supply including the location of the Company equipment.
  9. Reviews uptake of customer potential and opportunities for growth and recommends to Marketing to target potential customers.
  10. Participates in the motivation and discipline of staff in line with laid down policies and procedures to realise corporate objectives.
  11. Participates in the implement staff development and training for the section to ensure a competent, efficient and motivated staff.
  12. Recommends CAPEX, Expenditure and Manpower budget implementation of approved budget to achieve set objectives/plans.
  13. Ensures compliance to SHER procedures when carrying out duties.
  14. Promotes safety awareness in line with SHER requirements through periodic audits
